The Yard Company 2008-2009
The YARD Company is a pre-professional performing group with members between the ages of 3yr. to 18 yr. Any student who takes at least
one class at the York Area Repertoire of Dance is eligible to join company. Company will begin on Monday July 7th at 5:30 -7:30 pm for the
month of July .
Dues:
Company dues were set at $20/mo for the 2008-2009 year Dues are payable to the YARD Company to be paid the 1st week of each month in
a separate check. Dues should be paid for July but not Aug. Dues will again be paid in Sept and every month after that thru June. Dues are
needed to pay for teacher’s hours when working on company routines, rent and basic supplies. Fundraisers are necessary to raise funds for
any props, costumes and other expenses the Elected Board in collaboration with the Artistic Director feels is necessary for the company to
achieve its goals. To perform in recital & participate in competitions, all current year dues need to be paid to date. Please note that the Board
established a new cap on dues of $40/family effective July1,2008
Costumes:
Every effort will be made to use costumes donated to company and or recital costumes to keep the costs down for individual members. The
company should purchase or make production costumes, but some other costumes may need to be purchased by members for group
numbers. We try to keep it to no more than 2 costumes at a reduced purchase price for discontinued costumes available at East Prospect or a
similar place ($ 25-$30 would be an estimate of an approximate cost). Company members especially new company members ( who do not
own recital 2008 costumes & nuggets) Should expect they will need to purchase two costumes at $25-30.
Summer Practices:
Mon 5:30-7:30 pm for All (July only) Beginning July 7th
Fall-Spring Practices:
Fri 5:30-6:30 pm for Nuggets ( Pre & Beg)
Fri 5:30-7:30 pm for Emeralds ( B.Int, Teen & Int 1)
Sat 9:00-11:00 am for Rubies (Int 2)
Sat 9:00-11:00 am for Diamonds (Adv).
**** Note All levels may need to be available these times in Sept & Oct to prepare for the Halloween Parade.
Absences:
It is understandable that students may have to miss some practices however students should notify the Artistic director if they are going to
miss a rehearsal ahead of time due to a conflict. If you are sick please call Charlee or leave a message on the YARD answering machine. If
you miss a practice please get together with another member (especially the dance captain) to try to learn what you missed. If you miss too
many practices you may be pulled from a number. This is at the sole discretion of the Artistic director.
