The Yard Company 2008-2009
Artistic Director:
Charlee Zamudio-Fidler. Reserves the right to make all artistic decisions including class requirements for membership in company, what
groups students are in, casting, teaching staff and practice schedule. It is the Artistic Directors sole decision who is in performance numbers
and that includes dealing with any absenteeism problems that may arise.
Facilities Director:
Romy Norris. Liaison for Company use of facilities, storage room (with area for Company costume/props), inventory of YARD Company assets
stored at the YARD in Storage room, and assisting Artistic Director with company practice schedule, audition information, competition
information etc.
Executive Board:
Includes President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. Funds, Dues and Company fundraiser funds to be managed by the board and
are considered separate from those of the YARD Dance studio. The board members are the elected representatives that deal with the day-to-
day operation of the company including managing funds, budgeting, maintaining phone chain, fundraising, costume and prop
needs. The Elected Board for 2008-2009 is:
President: Jenn Morgan
Vice-President: Tina Arnold
Treasurer: Deb Wentz
Secretary: Tanya Ruppert
Parent Commitees:
It is expected that all parents of members will volunteer to be on one of the following committees: Fundraising, Costumes, Marketing/Public
Relations, or Sound & props.
Dance Captain:
This is a student designated by Charlee for each number to be the “captain” for that number. Captains are responsible for knowing all
choreography for all parts of that routine. If you miss a practice make arrangement with dance captain to practice during the week between
classes so you will know the choreography you missed.
Casting:
Casting for which member is in what number is posted on company board. Casting is at the sole discretion of the Artistic Director. Numbers
change as year progresses. Some Recital numbers may be done in fall and replaced in Spring with new numbers. Some numbers are
choreographed during Company time exclusively for company members. Nugget. Emerald, Ruby and Diamond levels are decided by class
level. Sometimes dancers cross over and may be in more than one level. If you were a Int 2 last year and the Diamonds are doing a recital
2008 number you may or may not be added in the fall. If you do not take a class ie. Lyrical or Voice you will not be in those numbers (exception
Nuggets). Understudies should attend all practices—almost every time understudies have been used in minishows ( provided they know
choreography & are ready) New members are always in at least 2-3 numbers (provided they take at least 2-3 classes or are nuggets.)
